This training introduces therapists to the evidence-based framework of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and its application in a virtual private practice setting.
Participants will explore the theoretical underpinnings of CPT, how to conduct trauma-focused PTSD assessments, and deliver Session 1 psychoeducation, all through a telehealth lens. Using a longitudinal case study, therapists will practice setting the virtual frame, starting to identify stuck points, and assigning the Impact Statement homework.

Building on the foundations of Part 1, this training guides therapists through the core middle-phase tools of CPT, including the ABC Worksheet, Socratic questioning, the Challenging Questions Worksheet, and the Patterns of Problematic Thinking framework. Participants will learn how to identify and collaboratively challenge stuck points with clients in a virtual setting, balancing protocol fidelity with clinical flexibility and cultural responsiveness. Through role play and case-based discussion, therapists will develop confidence in navigating ambivalence, emotional dysregulation, and slow progress during the heart of CPT treatment.
Trauma Account, Belief Areas & Consolidating Treatment Gains

This final training covers the later phase of CPT, including the optional Trauma Account, the five belief area modules (Safety, Trust, Power/Control, Esteem, and Intimacy), and the Final Impact Statement. Participants will learn how to facilitate therapeutic termination in a virtual private practice context, recognize signs of vicarious trauma, and build a sustainable, ethically grounded trauma practice. The session closes with the resolution of the longitudinal case study, offering therapists a full picture of what recovery through CPT can look like for clients.
