Caroline Goodhines, Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit
Caroline Goodhines
Therapy with me is: Collaborative, conversational, and grounded in curiosity. Together, we explore patterns in your thoughts, relationships, and emotional responses while building practical tools to help you navigate anxiety, life transitions, and uncertainty with greater clarity.
Outside of the therapy room: I love spending time with loved ones, reading (especially narrative nonfiction), and keeping up with The Real Housewives.
Are you navigating career stress, relationship challenges, identity questions, or another major life transition? Many of the clients I work with are in their twenties and thirties, building careers, deepening partnerships, questioning long-held beliefs, or stepping into roles that feel heavier or more complex than expected. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, understand patterns in your thoughts and relationships, and move forward with more clarity and intention.
I work primarily with young adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, burnout, or uncertainty about the direction their lives are taking. On the outside, things may look stable or successful, but internally, you may feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of what you actually want. Together, we work to understand the patterns that keep showing up in your life and create space for change that feels realistic and sustainable.
Clients often come to therapy with concerns related to anxiety, perfectionism, relationship dynamics, communication challenges, identity exploration, and periods of transition that feel destabilizing or confusing. Therapy can help you make sense of these experiences while building tools to navigate them with more confidence and self-understanding.
Alongside my work with young adults, I also support individuals navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and early parenthood. The transition into parenthood can bring profound identity shifts, relationship changes, and emotional complexity. Therapy can offer a space to process these experiences, manage anxiety, and adjust to this stage of life with greater support.
My work is trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I aim to create a space where clients feel respected, understood, and thoughtfully challenged as they work toward meaningful and lasting change.
In my work, I draw from narrative and humanistic therapy alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This allows us to explore both the practical strategies that help manage anxiety, overthinking, and everyday stress, and the deeper emotional patterns and experiences that shape how you relate to yourself and others. Our sessions are collaborative and paced around your goals, values, and lived experience. You can expect curiosity, honesty, and a thoughtful space to explore emotions, relationships, communication patterns, and identity.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and a degree in Selected Studies in Education from Syracuse University with a focus on cultural foundations of schooling and disability studies. My training emphasizes trauma-informed care, relational therapy, and an understanding of how identity and social systems influence mental health.
Alongside my work with young adults navigating identity development, career stress, and relationship patterns, I specialize in supporting individuals as they adjust to pregnancy, postpartum changes, and early parenthood. These transitions often bring complex emotional and relational shifts, and therapy can offer space to process them with support and clarity.
I believe therapy can be deeply transformative when someone feels genuinely heard and understood. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to help you better understand yourself and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
